UVM info

http://www.unigo.com/university_of_vermont/summary
"Burlington is one of the best things about UVM, which I didn't actually realize until I moved off campus. With a strong underground arts movement, activist groups, etc. there is plenty to become involved with off campus. Living among mostly students is also great, as well as skiing in the winter and the lake in the summer, especially biking in the summer, around town. Williams Hall, the art building is where most of my time is spent, a majestic old building with a great faculty, I also spend a lot of time at the library. UVM is a good size, although I wouldn't want to see it get any larger. There doesn't appear to be much school pride, which I like. Also not having a football team is nice, sets us apart from the other big state schools. The Naked Bike Ride, at midnight on the last day of classes, is certainly one experience that I will take away with me, a great UVM tradition in which hundreds of students cycle around campus. fantastic."

"
And too many things could not be said about Burlington. It has everything you need form a beautiful waterfront, movies, skiing 45 minutes away, bars, restaurants and nice people (granted you don't wake them up at 3 am coming home from a party)."

"
The biggest group on campus is the Ski and Snowboard club. I would have to say that almost everyone who ski's or snowboards on campus is part of the group (but not me for some reason). Living in the dorms is a great experience. Wether you live in the brand new University Hights suits, or in the old 1970's central campus dorms, you will leave swearing yours was the best floor ever."

"
The best thing about UVM might be the location, you've got lake champlain to one side with a view of the adarondaks, and then you've got the Green Mtns to the other side. You can get to the mountains for hikes (free) or skiing ($$$$$$) in 30 min, or just go down to the bike trail to the lake where everyone and thier golden retriever are out exercising. The "City" is not bad, small with some great college bars that not too many normal people go to because the college students and recent alum dominate the scene. Some good restaurants, a posh grocery store...nice things and lots of organic food and recycling goes down. Very earth-conscious.
The school is just the right size, you always are meeting new people, but don't feel lost, even as a freshman. The professors have time for you, and really do mean it about visiting in their office hours, so definately take advantage of that."

"The most popular activities and groups at UVM are the Outing Club and the Ski and Snowboarding Club. UVM is really active and most people like to hike, participate in club sports, and ski a lot! Students participate a lot in sports and regularly attend the hockey and basketball games. I cannot talk much about the theater department because I am not really involved in that part of the school, but I know that my friends who are in it love it. School-wide traditions like the Naked Bike Race, and broom ball have a wide-range of participants, and most people meet each other through extra-curricular clubs like the Running Club, the Alpine Ski Club, etc. Because UVM is in Burlington, there is also lots to do off campus from yoga, sailing, to working in coffee shops, etc. Usually, in the winter, I ski on the weekends, and use the week to finish homework, intern, and work, but there is lots to do if you have the time."

"
The best thing about UVM is the natural environment around the area. With 5 ski areas within an hour's drive from campus, it's easy to see why we attract outdoor enthusiasts. It's also an unbelieveable gift to be able to look east from campus and see Mt Mansfield and Camels Hump, both capped in snow. Then you look west and watch the sunset over lake Champlain...awesome."

Average Room and Board (view room/board rates) $9,738Estimated Books & Supplies*     $1,200Comprehensive Student Fee $1,894

"Compared to other schools, UVM has a lot of options when it comes to dining. I appreciate the effort to make more vegan and vegetarian choices, however I find myself losing my appetite at times as soon as I walk into a dining hall. Also, I love the fact that waste is sorted from trash, recyclables and compost. Being environmentally friendly in all aspects of campus life is a great part of UVM!"
"I live on Athletic Campus, which has the Harris/Millis dining hall, also known as The View, but most well known as The Grundle. I personally try to avoid the Grundle as much as possible. Instead, I go the Marche, which is my favorite place to eat. They have better food and the dining atmosphere is cozier."
"The food is definitely good at UVM. There are a lot of options and of course it isn't anything like a home-cooked meal, but better than a lot of other campuses. My favorite place is probably Marche or Simpson."
"There are soo many places to eat at UVM that I never get sick of the choices, nor do I have to worry about eating the same thing every day.  There are also many local places downtown and around Burlington that are within walking distance or offer delivery."
